HERE and Hawa Dawa: improving quality of life with air pollution data

Hawa Dawa added air pollution index data to the HERE Marketplace helping developers create better products and healthier lives

A clearer future

HERE Technologies, the number one location and technology platform, is excited to announce the inclusion of Hawa Dawa's comprehensive, real-time, air pollutant data on the HERE Marketplace.

Hawa Dawa, a Munich-based company specializing in air quality management, is offering air pollution data via a comprehensive API that allows for simple integration into diverse applications (web, mobile, etc). The API's functions promote easy integration for a wide range of uses: traffic management and transportation; mobility, urban planning, and smart cities; health and fitness; real estate; ports and container shipping; finance and insurance.

The company gathers data from a rich set of sources including satellites, on-the-ground public measurement stations, and IoT sensors. Using an innovative technology platform, they process data using a secure and contained backend program. AI ensures quality, coverage, and granularity while allowing Hawa Dawa to provide data on NO2, ozone, particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), and pollen levels. They also offer particulars for the CAQI (European Common Air Quality Index) in addition to location and time-relevant risk information for those suffering from cardiovascular diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

By offering our air quality information on the HERE Marketplace, we want to simplify the access to our compiled air quality data for developers. Air quality is a non-neglectable fact in all areas of human life. Therefore, the number of possible use cases is huge. We trust in the creativity of the developer community to take this opportunity forward and enhance their products with our data and contribute to healthier lives and economic wealth.

Karim Tarraf, CEO of Hawa Dawa

In the future, Hawa Dawa plans to add additional portfolio components to the HERE Marketplace including predefined air quality reports and filters, as well as interactive software features such as hotspot detection, air quality prediction, commuter alert, and eco-sensitive route calculation.

The HERE Marketplace is a key component of the HERE platform. Other elements include HERE Workspace, a cloud-based environment to create, deploy and scale location-driven data products, services, and applications securely. In addition, HERE Studio helps visualize geospatial data and create custom web maps via an easy-to-use web application.

With access to real-time pollutant data from Hawa Dawa, developers, data scientists, and business analysts can build and enhance products and services to benefit our health, the environment, and even the economy.
