HERE Sustainability Report: from ambition to action

Upgrading traveler mobility

“Teaming up with HERE feels more like a collaboration than simply working with a supplier,” said Tom Schilling, Head of Mobility Services at VMZ.

Rome’s Fiumicino Airport has become the first airport outside Germany to deploy "mobility monitors"—eye-catching, flower-shaped displays developed by VMZ in collaboration with HERE. Strategically placed near luggage carousels and terminal exits, these monitors offer real-time transportation insights, including train schedules, shuttle options and taxi availability.

Using HERE Real-Time Traffic and HERE Routing, the monitors deliver up-to-the-minute information on city transit conditions. A scannable QR code links travelers to a responsive web portal—no app downloads required—making the service especially convenient for international visitors or one-time users.

“The newest mobility monitors we are developing will make traveling even smoother and easier, adapting quickly to customer needs for an optimized experience,” said Schilling.

Improving kids' digital safety

“Kids digital safety was the number one priority when rolling out Gabb Maps and we wanted to be sure to create a solution that was safe for kids and didn’t collect or share any of their personal data,” said Isaac Jacobson, SVP of Strategic Partnerships and Services at Gabb.

Last year, HERE partnered with Gabb, a leader in safe technology for kids, to launch Gabb Maps™, a kid-safe mapping and navigation app designed specifically for Gabb® mobile phones.

Built using HERE SDK and real-time data, Gabb Maps prioritizes children’s digital safety by filtering out age-inappropriate business information, such as liquor stores, and blocking “backdoor” internet access through internal browsers or user-generated content that could expose kids to explicit material.

Importantly, any child’s data is kept anonymous and is used solely to enhance navigation, never for advertising purposes.

“This unique offering gives kids the ability to use the location services everyone has come to expect on phones, without exposing them to any of the dangerous content from age-inappropriate businesses or users,” said Jacobson.

Enhancing EV experiences

“By developing a fully customized Lotus system with HERE, together we are pioneering in the auto-tech environment,” said Serino Angellotti, Senior Chief Engineer at Lotus.

The Lotus Emeya, a fully electric hyper-GT, features HERE-powered navigation that addresses EV drivers’ range anxiety through advanced features like HERE EV Range Assistant and HERE EV Charge Points.

These tools deliver predictive battery consumption and route planning to ensure safe, efficient trips. Drivers can set custom battery thresholds for added peace of mind, while over-the-air updates ensure the navigation system stays cutting-edge.

With HERE’s integrated automotive technology, Lotus offers its customers an innovative blend of performance, convenience and sustainability, setting a new benchmark for electric vehicles.

Optimizing logistics with AI

Before OptETruck, the inefficiencies were staggering,” said Sriram Ramanujam, Vice President for Digital Products at PSA Southeast Asia.

Singapore’s trucking industry is undergoing a transformation with OptETruck, an AI-powered logistics solution developed in collaboration with HERE and PSA International.

Powered by HERE Tour Planning and Location Services, OptETruck streamlines job assignments by optimizing routes and minimizing empty truck trips, cutting inefficiencies and enhancing operational speed in one of the world’s busiest shipping hubs.

This innovation has reduced the rate of freightless trips by 50%, saving 10 million kilograms of CO2 annually, which is equivalent to planting 300,000 trees. The system not only supports Singapore’s vision for greener transport but also addresses workforce shortages and cost pressures, setting a strong precedent for AI-driven sustainability in logistics.
