In 2013, Zoomcar introduced India's first car-sharing platform. They now have a fleet of approximately 10,000 cars, including electric vehicles, across five countries: Egypt, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and India.
Across cities in India, like Mumbai, Bangalore, Mysore, and Kolkata, Zoomcar is using its fleet to obtain real-time and historic data in order to establish driving scores, encouraging even good drivers to be safer. Using this data we built this map to illustrate the distribution of good, average, and bad drivers in large cities across India.
The distribution of good, average, and bad drivers is based on Zoomcar's driver behavior data. The driver scoring data spans from November 2020 to November 2021 and categorizes drivers as bad, average, and good based on a proprietary Zoomcar algorithm. Data from the Zoomcar Mobility Services (ZMS) Driver Behavior Intelligence App is also available on the HERE Marketplace. Population data was sourced from the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Population Division (2018), and Udupi District's website.
This app displays a grayscale map of India overlaid with color-coded donut charts showing the distribution of good, average, and bad drivers in large cities across the country. Cities are also listed on the card on the left. By default, cities are listed in descending order by worst drivers. Users can also see cities listed by best drivers. The distribution of good, average, and bad drivers is represented by a stacked bar chart, with information on exact percentages available on hover.
The map can be embedded as an iframe, with detailed instructions for desktop and/or mobile devices available under the About modal.
We used the HERE Javascript API with custom grayscale styles to render the basemap.
