Outgrowing a Legacy Route Optimization Platform

Before partnering with Korem and HERE, Nationex relied on a legacy route optimization solution that struggled to keep up with modern delivery demands. Their fleet management software lacked the flexibility to support dynamic routing or respond to real-time changes in driver availability and delivery volumes.

On top of that, poor geocoding accuracy, including mismatched GPS coordinates and incorrect address data—led to unreliable routes and late deliveries. Route calculations were painfully slow, often taking three to four times longer than expected, creating bottlenecks in daily planning and making it tough to maintain efficient schedules.

Building Smarter Routes with HERE APIs

The journey began with a proof of concept led by Korem, giving Nationex a firsthand look at the combined power of HERE Technologies’ APIs and Korem’s geospatial expertise. The results were in line with Nationex's business objectives and they quickly committed to building their own internal route optimization platform powered by HERE’s robust API suite.

In the first phase, Nationex integrated several key HERE APIs:

• Autosuggest API

  enabled dispatchers to enter addresses faster and more accurately with predictive, context-aware suggestions.

• Geocoding & Reverse Geocoding APIs

  improved delivery precision through accurate coordinate matching.

• Time-Aware Routing with Real-Time Traffic

  optimized travel times using live and predictive traffic data.

• Waypoints Sequencing API

  automatically reordered stops to reduce distance and fuel consumption.

After seeing measurable gains in performance and accuracy, Nationex began transitioning to the HERE Routing API. This upgrade allowed them to manage complex routing scenarios and scale dynamically across their growing fleet.

Together, these APIs give Nationex the flexibility to reassign routes on the fly—for example, condensing eight planned routes into six when two drivers are unavailable—ensuring operational efficiency without compromising service quality.

By adopting HERE Technologies’ APIs, Nationex transformed its route optimization and logistics workflows. With HERE’s real-time traffic data and location intelligence, optimization times dropped by over two-thirds, allowing drivers to spend less time waiting at depots and more time on the road.

Improved address validation and geocoding precision ensured packages reached the correct destination on the first attempt—reducing costly returns and boosting first-time delivery success rates. Thanks to Time-Aware Routing, drivers can now adapt to changing road conditions in real time, improving reliability across Nationex’s fleet of 500+ vehicles.
