HERE is working on a brand-new documentation website. The new site will make it easier for you to learn how to use HERE APIs, SDKs, and data. Some of the improvements include:
AI chat that provides a conversational experience and can provide more complete information, including code examples
A “try it out” feature for APIs so you can run requests and see the response right from the API reference
Improved navigation and search
Updated look and feel with dark mode.
This update will result in different URLs, which may require updates any pages you have bookmarked. Old URLs will redirect to the new site but may not go directly to the exact page you bookmarked. Redirects will be in place to help you get you as close as possible to the original bookmarked page.
The new version of Maps API for JavaScript 3.2.5.0 introduces the following improvements:
Added the optional baseUrl argument to the H.map.render.harp.Style constructor to specify a custom location from which the base style is fetched.
Added H#getVersion() method returning the API version.
Applied rendering performance improvements.
Enhanced support for Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) weight specification in the Vehicle Profile API by introducing the currentWeightInKilograms attribute to H.service.omv.Provider.ITruckSpecs for filtering weight restrictions and distinguishing between gross weight and current weight.
Improved CSP compliance.
Improved terrain data quality with a new source for Canada and reduced the number of rendering artifacts along the France-Switzerland border.
Fixed the default political view to correctly display the Gaza Strip boundary with a dashed line, ensuring accurate territorial representation.
Improved administrative label naming for India by adopting primary names from the map data source, providing consistency in default language encoding across mapping services.
Improved place name selection for locations that have multiple non-primary language names by implementing a deterministic algorithm which ensures consistent and predictable naming across map displays.
The previously announced removal of NameType attribute values is delayed. The new removal date will be communicated later in 2026.
Beginning Q3 2026, HERE will remove catalog versions older than 18 months.
For questions, reach out to your HERE Account Executive or Technical Services point-of-contact.
In Q4 2026, a redesign of the Restricted Driving Maneuvers schema and implementation (Restricted Driving Manoeuvre) will be introduced.
This will impact the following layers:
Topology Attributes (layer ID topology-attributes)
Truck Attributes (layer ID truck-attributes)
Additional details will be announced later in Q1 2026.
As of Q2 2026, the following layers will be removed:
Road Attributes
Navigation Attributes
Advanced Navigation Attributes
Recreational Vehicle Attributes
Consumers of these layers should migrate their applications to the new Topology Attributes layer.
As of Q2 2026, the following layers will no longer receive updates, with removal planned for Q3 2026:
Warning Locations
Pedestrian Attributes
Bicycle Attributes
As of Q4 2026, the following layers will no longer receive updates, with removal planned for Q1 2027:
Vehicle Regulations
Commercial Vehicle Regulations
Both layers will be replaced by a single new layer publishing all motorized vehicle regulations. More information will be provided during 2026.
Routing: Added VehicleSpecification.kingpinToRearAxleDistanceInCentimeters to calculate routes that support this kingpin to rear axle distance. In case no route can be found, the ViolatedRestriction.details.maxKingpinToRearAxleDistanceInCentimeters contains the max distance.
Navigation: Added FixedCameraBehavior.zoom to align with other camera behavior classes.
Search: Added EVChargingLocation.supportPhoneNumber for the phone number that EV drivers should call when they need assistance at the charge location.
Search: Added EVChargingLocation.timeZone for the time zone of the charging location and EVChargingConnector.tariffIndexes for the tariff indexes of the charging location.
Improved incident processing logic for Tennessee Feed.
Improved Incident Processing Logic for single links.
Improved handling of Incident Cancellation logic.
Japan data quality improvements for Jartic provider.
For users who have implemented two factor authentication, the HERE platform will stop supporting the SMS-based authentication channel in Oct 2026. HERE will implement two factor authentication with authenticator apps as the verification channel for users to add an extra layer of security to their account.
To improve the security of HERE user accounts, authenticator apps will be supported as an optional layer of security for all users to increase the strength of their login security. HERE will support commonly available authenticator apps, and users may choose any of the commercially available options, such as those from Authy, Bitwarden, Microsoft, Google, and others.
This notice only applies to users with password logins to their organization. Users with single sign on (SSO) login can enable 2FA/MFA through their identity providers.
