When a global leader in simulation software for automotive R&D faced a high-pressure situation, they turned to HERE. Ahead of a crucial meeting with a major automotive OEM, the software company needed to build a new, highly-realistic simulation environment to demonstrate their technology.

Creating a new simulation scene using traditional workflows - manually searching, extracting, and converting HD map data - would typically take several weeks and require specialized expertise. This customer needed a faster, more efficient approach to recreate a specific real-world environment in Detroit, without compromising accuracy or quality.
The solution
HERE provided access to SceneXtract, an innovative solution powered by generative AI and built on AWS using Amazon Bedrock and OpenSearch. SceneXtract enabled the customer to quickly search, locate, and extract the exact map data needed to recreate a real-world driving environment - using simple natural language queries.
Instead of manually handling complex data conversions, the customer team could describe the scene they needed and let SceneXtract do the heavy lifting. The tool seamlessly pulled relevant HERE HD Live Map data and exported it into the simulation-ready OpenDrive format compatible with the customer’s simulation software.
Even under tight timelines, the customer was able to successfully generate a simulation scene tailored to their demo requirements. HERE’s team worked closely with the customer to ensure any initial challenges were quickly resolved, ensuring a smooth and effective implementation.
