HERE Maps API for JavaScript 3.1.65.0

HERE Maps API for JavaScript 3.1.65.0 introduces an important new feature to support Transportation and Logistics use cases. The new Vehicle Profiles feature lets you tailor the rendering of vehicle restrictions for specific vehicles. By specifying its characteristics, the map only displays those restrictions which apply to the defined profile.

The new functionality supplements existing features for this use case, like the general display of vehicle restrictions, a specific logistics style as well as the display possibilities for congestion and environmental zones.

HERE Maps API for JS Vehicle Restrictions

The new Version 3.1.65.0 also introduces enhancements to the map style. The updated style shows country water borders, indications for truck drivers if deliveries are permitted in a restricted zone, and an enriched POI display.

New attributes

The ADAS Attributes layer now publishes the following 2 new attributes:

Both attributes replace the deprecated attribute CurvatureHeadingAttribute, which will be removed from the schema at the end of Q4 2025. For more information, see the What’s in the works section.

Removal of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations layer

The Electric Vehicle Charging Stations layer (layer ID electric-vehicle-charging-stations) has been removed from the catalog.

HERE Network Positioning API 2.7.0

Positioning based on 5G cellular networks

We officially launched positioning based on 5G cellular network signals. This applies to mobile devices that are connected to native 5G Standalone (SA) cellular networks, also called NR or New Radio networks. See the Developer Guide for an example of positioning requests using 5G SA signals.

Note that positioning of mobile devices using 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) cellular networks is supported in HERE Network Positioning API via 4G/LTE signal measurements. This is possible because 5G NSA networks use the 4G control plane.

5G NSA networks provide higher data speeds compared to 4G, but note that native 5G SA networks provide very low latency and network slicing in addition to high data speed.

HERE Raster Tile API 3.0.60 and HERE Map Image API 3.0.40

  • Added water country boundaries.

HERE Real Time Traffic

  • Improved Offset handling for Incidents for Japan.

  • Addressed Automatic Closure Verification instability and data quality issues caused due to faulty probe alarm logic.

  • Removed invalid and blacklisted map links requests.

  • Improved Coverage for following regions:

    • Automatic Roadworks Verification/Construction Data Enabled for UK.

    • Improved Incident coverage for incident 2.4 feed for Austria.

    • Enabled Congestion Incident Data for Serbia.

    • Enabled Incident feeds for Israel (E0435).

    • Enabled Rush hour predictions for all countries.

Removal of catalog

  • HERE Real Time Traffic Incident Catalog Version 1 (RTTI V1; HRN: hrn:here:data::olp-here:olp-traffic-1) has been removed. Please use the existing HERE Real Time Traffic Incident Catalog Version 2 (RTTI V2; HRN: hrn:here:data::olp-here:here-traffic-incidents-v2) instead.

RTTI V2 provides the same content as RTTI V1 with multi‑region support. For more information on RTTI V2 layers in the catalog, see the Fetch Incident Data section of the HERE THERE Real-Time Traffic Incident - User Guide.

HERE Style Editor 1.13.0

HERE Tour Planning API

The API comes with the following improvements and new features:

  • You can now obtain CO2 emission and fuel consumption statistics for the tour.

  • You can now retrieve route polylines (in the flexible polyline format), representing paths between consecutive stops in the solution.

  • You can now specify the total number of axles for a vehicle through the axleCount property, which helps to avoid restricted routes and optimize navigation.

  • Use maxDrivingTime to set the maximum allowed driving duration per duty period or working day. This lets you ensure compliance with regulations related to driver hours and fatigue.

  • Use the dutyRule to set the maximum time that drivers can spend on duty during the working period. This includes the time spent driving between consecutive stops, loading or unloading goods, or performing any other work-related activities. Additionally, the dutyRule lets you schedule the fixed off-duty break duration for time spent away from work-related activities, such as sleeping, resting, or engaging in personal activities.

  • A new tieBreak hierarchical objective enables ties in a higher-level objective to be resolved by a lower-level objective. This new objective allows for more precise goal-setting and evaluation.

  • The new recharges property enables you to define a list of up to 20 available EV recharge stations for the vehicle within a given shift.

  • The new excessCosts property defines boundaries for distance, stop count, and other constraint types. If these limitations are breached, penalties will be incurred. This feature facilitates more cost-effective logistics tour plans that balance the need to complete tasks efficiently with the need to avoid excessive costs.

Traffic Analytics

Direct Map Downloads in SHP Format

We’ve made it easier to access your map data.

Starting July 8th, after receiving your requested data, you can download the corresponding map directly no need to visit external portals or manage credentials for HERE’s FlexNet page. The maps are provided in SHP file format and include the same attributes as before. They are organized by HERE Administrative Level 2 (Admin L2):

  • If your request targets a specific Admin L2 area, you’ll receive the full Admin L2 boundary for that area.

  • If your request covers an entire country, you’ll get a single download link containing all Admin L2 boundaries for that country.

This streamlined process saves time and ensures you always get the right version -fast and hassle-free.Traffic Analytics email - New link for map download highlighted. Netherlands request example. All Admin Level 2 aggregated.

HERE SDKs

Upcoming change

As the Explore Edition is a subset of the Navigate Edition, we plan to merge the developer guides for both into a single developer guide.

Features such as HERE Positioning, Navigation, Indoor Maps, and offline capabilities will remain exclusive to Navigate users. Editions will be referenced to as "licenses". Your existing Explore and Navigate credentials will continue to work as before, and we will maintain support for both licenses through dedicated frameworks and API references. This change is planned for an upcoming release and will only affect the documentation.

Tracking Cloud

Deprecating old APIs

In preparation of a Simplified Tracking API, a number of older APIs that are no longer required are undergoing deprecation. Deprecated APIs include Aliases v2 API, Bulk jobs v4 API, C2C v4 API, Labels v4 API, Metadata v2 API, and Shipment plans v4 API.Refer to HERE Tracking API documentation for information on Tracking APIs that are still supported, or have been deprecated.

HERE SDK 4.23.0.0

The following updates are available for HERE SDK 4.23.0.0:

  • Bug fixes and performance improvements

  • Navigation: The DynamicRoutingEngine has been extended to use RoutingOptions for route calculation.

  • Map view: Removed the beta label for MapPolyline.setRepresentaion() . The API is now considered to be stable.

  • Search: Added EVChargingPool.access that represents the accessibility level of the charging pool. Also available offline for Navigate users.

  • Search: Added EVAccessRestrictionReason that represents the restriction reason of an EVChargingPool. Added EVChargingPool.accessRestrictionReasons that contains the list of reasons for restriction, accessible by offline search when access is EVAccessType.restrictedAccess.

  • Positioning: On Android, we added an altitude estimate with vertical accuracy into location estimates based on Wi-Fi signal observations.

  • Documentation: Since the Explore Edition is a subset of the Navigate Edition, we plan to merge the developer guides for both into a single developer guide. Features such as HERE Positioning, Navigation, Indoor Maps, and offline capabilities will remain exclusive to Navigate users. Editions will be referenced to as "licenses". Your existing Explore and Navigate credentials will continue to work as before, and we will continue to maintain support for both licenses through dedicated frameworks and API references. This change is planned for an upcoming release and will only affect the documentation.

  • We have released a new version of the HERE SDK Reference Application. With version 1.14.0, we added support for HERE SDK 4.22.0.0, upgrade to Flutter 3.27.4 (previously 3.27.2) and Dart 3.6.2 (previously 3.6.1), along with other minor fixes and improvements.

HERE SDK 4.23.1.0

This is the first minor release of our 4.23 code line. Updates include:

  • Bug fixes and performance improvements.

  • Map style update: Enriched the POI display on the map by implementing new icons for various POI categories which previously used generic iconography.

  • OfflineSearchEngine : Improved searching for places along the route via GeoCorridor. The results are now more equally distributed along the entire route. Enable this feature with the new SearchOptions.distributedResults flag, which will use internally a parallel search algorithm. Note that this flag impacts only offline search.

  • Search: Added PlaceCategory.sightsLandmarkAttraction to use instead of PlaceCategory.sightsLandmarkAttaction that contains a typo. Note that this is also supported for the OfflineSearchEngine (if available for your license).

  • Navigation: Added the following classes:

    • GeneralVehicleSpeedLimits.maxSpeedRainingInMetersPerSecond

    • GeneralVehicleSpeedLimits.maxSpeedSnowingInMetersPerSecond

    • GeneralVehicleSpeedLimits.maxSpeedNightInMetersPerSecond

    • GeneralVehicleSpeedLimits.minSpeedHighwaysInMetersPerSecond.

    • AdministrativeRules, which will be used when retrieving administrative rules for a state or a country.

    • AdministrativeRulesLoader, with the methods AdministrativeRulesLoader.getStateCodes for getting all the states in a country and AdministrativeRulesLoader.getAdministrativeRules for getting the administrative rules for a specific state or for the whole country.

  • Map view: Improved support for transparent custom line layers to avoid darker colors when objects overlap. Added TranslucentMapLayerGroup class and MapLayerPriorityBuilder.inGroup() function to support placing custom line layers into a translucent layer group.

Custom line layers within a translucent group are rendered in an offscreen translucent pass, preventing self-overlapping translucent geometry from being alpha blended. Note that this is a beta release of this feature.

  • The minimum supported Flutter version for HERE SDK has been raised from version 3.27.4 to 3.29.3. The corresponding Dart version was raised from 3.6.2 to 3.7.2. The internally used intl plugin dependency was changed from version '0.19' to '>=0.19.0 <0.21.0'.

  • Added TruckSpecifications.currentWeightInKilograms field to indicate the current weight of the vehicle.

  • Navigation: Updated default colors for VisualNavigatorColors (in 0xRRGGBBAA format): for dayColors() , car route: 0x0D5ED9FF to 0x0D61DEFF , car route outline: 0x1257B8FF to 0x002693FF , car route progress outline: 0x8F9BAAFF to 0x929FB2FF , And for nightColors() , car route: 0x1A5CBDFF to 0x3168FFFF , car route outline: 0x083C8AFF to 0x5096FFFF , car route progress: 0xB9C5D4FF to 0x304866FF , car route progress outline: 0x8F9BAAFF to 0x677685FF .

  • Navigation: Added the fields isTollStickerRequired , turnOnRedRegulations , parkingSideRegulations , isCleanAirStickerRequired , bloodAlcoholContentLimit , tollSystems , and preTripPlanning to AdministrativeRules . Also added the class BloodAlcoholContentLimit to retrieve information on acceptable blood alcohol limits, class PreTripPlanning to define required vehicle equipment before entering a country or state (e.g., warning triangle, first-aid kit, safety vest), and the class TollSystem to provide toll regulation details and applicable vehicle types.

  • Positioning: Added support for positioning based on native 5G cellular networks. This applies to mobile devices that are connected to 5G Standalone (SA) cellular networks, also called NR or New Radio networks.
