New integration closes the gap between EV navigation and transaction, connecting pricing and payment for drivers and charge point operators.
HERE Technologies, the world’s leading mapping and location data company, today announced a new partnership with Cariqa, the direct payments infrastructure for electric vehicle (EV) charging.
Through this integration, Cariqa's payments infrastructure is connected with HERE WeGo, HERE's free mobile navigation app and journey planner. Drivers across the initial European rollout can discover participating chargers and access direct pricing from Cariqa's partner charge point operators (CPOs) within HERE WeGo, before being directed to Cariqa’s web experience to complete payment for their charging session.
The partnership closes a long-standing gap between navigation and transaction in EV charging, enabling a fully connected experience from route planning through to payment.
From discovery to transaction
In many digital services today, discovery and action happen in the same flow: finding a restaurant means booking a table, locating a hotel means reserving a room.
EV charging has remained an exception. While drivers can locate charging stations through navigation apps, starting and paying for a session typically requiresswitching between providers, service cards or accounts, creating friction at a critical moment in thedriverjourney.
With Cariqa Connect integrated into HERE WeGo, a previously fragmented experience becomes a connected journey.Drivers can find a charger and check pricing within HERE WeGo, then complete the session through Cariqa's payments infrastructure, without needing a separate provider app, service card or account.
For HERE, the integration enables EV charging capabilities without the need to build or manage payment infrastructure, billing systems, regulatory compliance processes or complex pricing logic across multiple partners.
A new demand channel for charge point operators
For CPOs connected to Cariqa, the integrationextends their reach to millions of drivers across HERE WeGo, placing their infrastructure directly in front of drivers at the moment they are planning routes and deciding where to charge.
Stations can be discovered and accessed within the navigation flow, while prices displayed are set directly by the operator, with no reseller markups. Payments are made directly to the CPO, facilitated by Cariqa, ensuring operators retain full control over how their network is priced.
Issam Tidjani, CEO and co-founder of Cariqa, said: “For Cariqa CPOs, this partnership opens up a new, high-intent channel to reach drivers at the exact moment they’re deciding where to charge. By bringing Cariqa into HERE WeGo, operators can surface their infrastructure and pricing directly within the navigation experience, without losing control over their commercial strategy. It’s a simple way to connect supply with real demand, while keeping pricing transparent and consistent.”
A simpler, more intuitive experience for drivers:
For drivers, the integration transforms HERE WeGo from a discovery tool into a complete charging interface.
Within a single, consistent experience, drivers can:
Discover available chargers along their route
View clear, upfront pricing set directly by the operator
Be directed to Cariqa’s web experience to start and pay for their charging session without registration
This removes the fragmentation that has traditionally defined public EV charging. Drivers no longer need to navigate multiple apps, pricing structures or payment systems, and can instead rely on a simple, predictable and transparent process.
Gino Ferru, SVP and General Manager EMEA at HERE Technologies, said: “At HERE, our focus is on delivering a seamless experience for EV drivers, from planning a route to completing a charging session. By integrating Cariqa Connect, we’re enabling drivers to not only find the right charger, but to start and pay for charging through an experience they can trust. Reducing friction at this critical moment makes EV charging simpler and more intuitive for drivers.”
Closing the loop in EV charging
The partnership represents a broader shift in how EV charging infrastructure and digital platforms interact. By connecting navigation, pricing and payment into a unified flow, Cariqa and HERE are helping to build a more integrated and user-centric charging ecosystem.
As EV adoption continues to grow, reducing friction at key moments in the charging journey will be critical to improving driver confidence and accelerating uptake.
Together, Cariqa and HERE are focused on bringing this connected experience to more drivers across Europe, making EV charging as simple and intuitive as other everyday digital interactions.
